Wits University’s medical students have returned to campus to continue with the 2020 academic year.
This comes after the President’s announcement on the measures to be taken by the Higer education sector for the rest of the 2020 academic year.
As part of the preventive measures to stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus, the department of Higher Education and the National Command Council halted campus based academic activities. Currently, the department is working on ensuring that students continue remotely with academic activities.
The department has allowed for the final year clinical trialing students to return to campus. This will happen under strict conditions.
Students resumed on the 11th of May.
314 students in their final year of MBBCH and GEMP will be returning.
The university also added that, ” 142 medical students on the Mandela Castro programme will also be returning to continue their clinical training in hospitals. These students will be housed in the witwaters building and at various hospitals.”
The medical students will be assisting with health management campaigns carried out by the Department of Health.
