An inspired FNB UWC saw off 2018 semi-finalists FNB UJ 29-17 for their first-ever FNB Varsity Cup victory on Monday night at the UWC Sports Stadium in Bellville.

Fun Run to raise awareness

Students together with City Waldorf took to the streets for a Fun Run raising awareness about depression

Depression, anxiety, and stress are no strangers when you are a student at varsity. Depression can be a struggle at any time.

According to the South African Depression and Anxiety group(sadag), one in four South African teens has attempted suicide. In South Africa 60% of people who commit suicide are depressed, the group said.

City Waldorf together with students took to the streets to raise awareness about depression and they did this through their participation in a Fun Run.

FNB Shimlas powers their way to the semi-finals

The much anticipated match between FNB UJ and FNB Shimlas, ended on a disappointing note for FNB UJ as they were no match for the FNB Shimlas.

FNB Shimlas put out a quality display of rugby as they beat FNB UJ in their own backyard in the 2019 Varsity Cup’s final round.

FNB Shimlas were the most dominant side and outclassed FNB UJ at home. The final whistle blew and FNB Shimlas deservedly won the match 38-14.

FNB NWU proved why they’re deserved semi-finalists when they beat FNB Wits 74-15 at the Fanie du Toit Sports Grounds on Monday 1 April.

FNB Maties and FNB UWC ended the game with 84-26 in their FNB Varsity Cup encounter on Monday night at the Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch.

keys’ clinched a 36-10 bonus-point victory against FNB CUT at the Green Mile on Monday night, to remain in the running for a semi-final spot.

UJ determined to end varsity Cup with a victory

The FNB UJ sets a goal of ending on a high when they play their final Varsity Cup match against Shimlas

The University of Johannesburg says it’s prepared to end on a high in their final match against Shimlas in Johannesburg on Monday.

Kick-off is at 18:30.

Taking the unsatisfactory results produced by UJ this season, securing one win, defeating Wits out of seven fixtures. This has put them second from the bottom log, only one point ahead of Cup rookies the University of the Western Cape.

Despite that record, the team’s captain Adriaan Bester said their spirits remained high and they were ready to tackle Shimlas at the UJ Stadium.

“We are definitely up for the challenge we face on Monday,” he said.

Despite the team’s disappointing position on the Log, he took the time to pay tribute to the UJ fans for the support they showed throughout the season.

“To our supporters I want to say a very big thank you for your encouragement at our home games. We definitely take a lot out of that energy and gees (spirit) when we play at home.”
