UCT reclaims its 10th position in world rankings, moving up two on the 2019 QS World University Rankings by subject.
UCT stands as the only university in the global south to feature among the top 10 for this discipline.
Anatomy and physiology, anthropology, archaeology, architecture/built environment, education, geography, social policy and administration, and sports-related subjects were also ranked among the top 100.

African News Agency (ANA) reported that the five broad subject areas for 2019, UCT was ranked in the following :
145th for Arts & Humanities
300th for Engineering & Technology
112nd for Life Sciences & Medicine
and came in 223rd place for Natural Sciences
166th for Social Sciences & Management.
