Pan-African magazine ‘The Thinker’ transferred to the University of Johannesburg

Dr. Essop Pahad, founder and Editor-in-Chief of The Thinker at the launch event hosted by The University of Johannesburg library in the Nadine Gordimer Auditorium on 17 April 2019.

Dr. Essop Pahad, former Minister in the Presidency of South Africa transferred his brainchild, The Thinker to the Univerisity of Johannesburg (UJ) after approximately ten years after development.

The Thinker, intellectual property (IP) of the Pan-African quarterly magazine, under publishers Vusizwe Media was passed down to UJ at no cost at a launch event hosted by the University of Johannesburg library in the Nadine Gordimer Auditorium on 17 April 2019. 

Soon-to-be Editor-in-Chief, Prof Ronit Frenkel, from UJ’s English department UJ’s looks to take the journal forward, with a plan to transform it into a hybrid journal.
