The ceremony to hand over land donated to Unisa by the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality (RNM) was held on 2 May 2019 on site at Uvongo, Margate.

Unisa plans to build a regional services center, which means that the current Mbizana Regional Services Centre housed in the Wild Coast Sun International will be relocated to a new state-of-the-art building in Uvongo, this serves to offer almost all services students would receive from other well-established centers.

Once the centre is complete, current and prospective students will have access to services such as online applications, registration, typing and submission of assignments, counselling, computer laboratories, classrooms, tutorials and study space, video conferencing, an advocacy and resource centre for students with disabilities, as well as a hall for writing examinations, which can also be shared with local communities.

The VC said the facility would be designed to allow for expansion. It is anticipated that the project will commence early in 2020 and be completed two years thereafter.
