The national lockdown has pushed various institutions and industries to implement effective measures to remain operational during the national lockdown.
National Student Financial Aid Scheme has provided an update about its operational measures during the lockdown, working continuously with funding, applications and assistance processes.
NSFAS has been making sure that students receive their allowances to be able to sustain themselves, continue with academic activities online, as well as paying for learning materials.
NSFAS is also urging students to open bank accounts for easier transfer processes.
This is so that funding could be made through direct deposits to student’s bank accounts.
NSFAS has stated that currently through its NSFAS wallet, it is already making payments to students from 32 of the 50 TVET colleges.
” During this week NSFAS will be extending this facility to three additional colleges to ensure the improved flow of funds directly to students”
This year a total of 614 986 registrations were received.
Allowances are to distributed in the week starting from April 20.
