Keaton Energy Mining Bursaries

Bursaries are awarded each year to selected candidates to study for a bachelor’s degree at a South African university or a national diploma at a South African Institute of technology.

The bursaries will only be considered for Mining Engineering, Extraction Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mine Survey, Geology, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering.

Grantees will be provided with registration and tuition fees, living, personal and computer allowances. The bursary holder will have the responsibility to work for Keaton Energy equal to the length of time the bursary is given.

Keaton Energy Mining bursaries have four different types:

  1. University Bursary Scheme – is for Engineering (Mining, Electrical, Mechanical, Metallurgical and Chemical) degrees
  2. University of Technology Bursary Scheme – is for Mining Engineering, Extraction Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mine Survey, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current and Light Current) diplomas

Keaton Energy Mining Bursary Requirements and Eligibility

  • South African citizens and under or turning the age of 21 during their first year of study and under or turning the age of 23 during their second year of study
  • Full-time students studying a degree at an accredited South African university that is acceptable to Keaton Energy
  • Medically fit proven by Medical Certificate of Fitness

    • Proof of university acceptance
  3. Email complete applications to applications@keatonenergy.co.za or send to Keaton Energy Holdings (Pty) Limited, Postnet Suite 464 Private Bag X51 BRYANSTON 2021
  4. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted by July and will be required to undergo psychometric testing, interview and medical examination

IFA Bursary South Africa 2020 – 2021

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – COVERAGE VALUE & SELECTION

The IFA will be awarding bursaries to children of active members, within their chosen field of study.
The bursary value will be to a maximum of R60 000 per annum, covering tuition fees, prescribed books, accommodation and study equipment.
 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • South African citizen
  • A biological child/ child of a legal guardian of an active IFA who are paying their monthly business fees (and must remain an active member for the duration of your studies)
  • IFA member must remain an active member for the entire duration of your studies
  • Under 21 years old at the time of bursary application deadline (30 April)
  • Completed Matric OR currently in Matric
  • Achieved a minimum overall average of 60% in Grade 11 final results or in Matric
  • Studying or intend on studying towards a full-time undergraduate qualification (first and second year only)
  • Studying or intend on studying at a South African tertiary institute, accredited by the Department of Education
  • NOT currently in receipt of any other bursary funding from another institute
  • Will complete your studies in the minimum number of years as stated by your tertiary institution

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY

Download and complete the IFA Bursary Application Form 
 

Submit the following supporting documentation along with your application form:

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • ID photo attached to the form
  • Grade 11 final results (certified copy)
  • Matric results or progress report, if currently in Matric (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate, if completed Matric (certified copy)
  • Latest tertiary progress report, if currently in your first year of tertiary studies (certified copy)
  • Parents/ guardians proof of income (if employed: latest payslips/ letter from employer/ tax return statement, if unemployed: sworn statement, if self-employed: latest financial statement)
  • Death certificates if one or both parents are deceased
  • Proof of legal guardian (where applicable)
  • Sworn statement from one parent if your parents are separated/ divorced
  • Motivational letter written by your parent/ guardian
  • Confirmation of acceptance to university (to be sent successful candidates by 20 January 2021)

What the bursary covers


 Undergraduates and post-graduate studies
 Fees for tuition and books only
 Special needs allowances

Who MUST apply:


 South African Citizen only, preferably employed at the time of application
 Students registered/accepted for the above qualifications (in any year of study)
 Preference will be given to historically disadvantaged individuals
 Must have passed their previous year of study (if student was enrolled in 2019)
 Must not be funded from any other source/sponsor/financial aid.

Documents required for application:



 Completed application form (attached)
 One (1) page Curriculum Vitae
 Proof of employment: letter from organisation confirming student employment
 Proof of registration or acceptance letter for the 2020 academic year in any of the
qualifications above
 Certified copy of your ID*
 Certified proof of highest qualification achieved (matric/senior certificate)
 If already studying, latest academic results from previous academic year
 Proof of address where student is currently staying (if different from home)
NB: All documents requiring commissioner of oaths must be certified in 2020
