This week’s FNB varsity cup started on a disappointing note
for the FNB WSU as they lose to the FNB CPUT following their loss to the FNB
Madibaz last Thursday. The match ended with a score of 28 to FNB CPUT and left
the FNB WSU settling at 22.
The FNB Madibaz came in strong with heavily changed starting
fifteen, including the absence of their captain, Riaan Esterhuizan. The juniors
and substitutes proved their greatness against the confidant FNB Rhodes as they
were victorious ending with a score of 53 with the FNB Rhodes settling at 8.
The FNB NMU remained undefeated as they managed to secure a
win against the the FNB Shimlas ending the match with 26-13 win. Match took
place at Shimpla Park.
The FNB Maties ran in eight tries to the two of the FNB CUT,
scoring a convincing win of 50-15 against the home side, FNB CUT. The match
Rugby stadium.
At UCT Rugby fields the Ikey Tigers secured a win as they beat FNB UJ 42-23 in a well fought FNB Varsity Cup match at the Green Mile on Monday.
