Guillaume Pelser (19), a first-year civil engineering student secures gold at the International Field Archery Association (IFAA), an indoor world championship held in Wellington, New Zealand. The 19-year-old went against archers from various countries under the freestyle unlimited young adult male category. Pelser claimed his victory and set a new record.
He discovered his passion in archery in October 2016, where he met Tempe archery club chairperson.
Pelser started participating in the competitions and received the Free-State colours in 2017 and 2018. He competed for the first time in 2018 at the IFAA indoor archery competition which was in Welkom, he was also victorious and received a gold medal.
Pelser was also invited to participate in the world championships in New Zealand. ” It is a great honour to know that all my hard work and dedication to the archery spot had paid off. My goal in archery is to qualify as a world champion in all different archery competitions.”
