The cape peninsula University of Technology becomes the first University in South Africa to make Antiretroviral(ARVs) treatment accessible to students.
It is said that students will be able to recieve their treatment on campus, at the student health care clinic.
This initiative will make students’ lives easier, removing the stress of missing classes and standing in long ques at local clinics and hospitals.
Treatment will be accessible at Bellville Campus, and will be rolled out to all other CPUT campuses by 2020.
CPUT spokesperson, Lauren Kansley explained that shuttle services will be available for affected students, at various campuses to access their ARVs.
Acting head at the CPUT student health department further added that, the institution will also ensure that Counselling is provided to the affected students.
