The graduation ceremony at the University of Johannesburg turned into a racial struggle, as Kamvelihle Goba refused to be conferred his bachelor of arts degree in humanities at the University of Johannesburg (UJ).
Goba took to the stage, dressed in Xhosa traditional attire under his gown, and accused the institution of racism on Tuesday. The video has been trending on social media, while others feel that he had the right to voice his opinions others felt that he should have chosen a different way to raise his issues.
Goba expressed that he could not walk on stage a remain quiet about what issues of race which were taking place within the university. He further said that UJ uses these ceremonies to present an image that they do not uphold in the everyday works at the university.
